Course outline:

This is the first stage of a six term course of practical language intended to meet the needs of the future primary school teachers. The students' expected level is A2 according to the levels of the global scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, i. e. A2: Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate basic need. The whole course is designed to lead the students from A2 through B1 to B2 with 5 units a term based freely on the recommended textbooks. The course will cover 2 levels, while each level requires about 90 hours of intensive class work plus about the same number of out of class preparation.
