Course outline:
This course provides the fifth stage of a six term Practical Language Course. In the course of three years, the students will cover 28 units of the course textbooks, including 4 review lessons, and additional materials from the recommended literature. At the end of the course (i.e. after six terms of the Practical Language Course) they are expected to achieve C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They will thus cover 2 levels in three years, while each level requires the minimum of 90 hours of class work and intensive preparation at home.
In the fifth stage, the students will move from the C1 to the C2 level according to the Common European Framework, i. e. C2: Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
They will master next four units of the Inside Out Advanced course textbook plus the Review Unit (7) developing all four skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing for better communication. They will continue to work on extending the range and accuracy of the language as well as the register, learn to analyse the language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they have changed their roles - from being the fluent users of the language into being the source of information about the language and language model providers.
