Course outline:
This course provides the third stage of a six term Practical Language Course. In the course of three years, the students will cover 28 units of the course textbooks, including 4 review lessons, and additional materials from the recommended literature. At the end of the course (i.e. after six terms of the Practical Language Course) they are expected to achieve C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They will thus cover 2 levels in three years, while each level requires the minimum of 90 hours of class work and intensive preparation at home.
In the third stage, the students will master the remaining two units of the Inside Out Upper-intermediate plus the first two units of Inside Out Advanced, thus building up on B2 level and slowly moving towards becoming a proficient user of English on the C1 level according to the Common European Framework, i. e. C1: Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
The students will develop all four skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing for better communication. They will continue to work on extending the range and accuracy of the language as well as the register, learn to analyse the language for teaching purposes and will be aware of the fact that they have changed their roles - from being the fluent users of the language into being the source of information about the language and language model providers.
